MesoAM SDG17 Coalition

MesoAM SDG17 Coalition

We are proud to be one of the Founding Members of the MesoAM SDG17 Coalition, which is a rapidly expanding team of NGOs. Our regional SDG14 program plans to deploy 100s of SDG14 solutions in the MesoAM Ecosystem.

MesoAM SDG17 Coalition SDG14 Solutions Guidance and Focus

The members of the MesoAm SDg17 Coalition Program have pledged to the One Planet One Ocean One Team One Mission, to follow one UNESCO Decade Roadmap for 30×30. Our Coalition will be TEAM Players in the WTAR.

Our pilot program includes 25 NGOs, 100+ SDG14 Solution project proposals, a comprehensive collection of solutions that reinforce or accelerate desired achievements. The reality is our planet/ocean is facing a global disaster. That calls for a disaster team approach to address multiple simultaneous stressors.  They use a process that is proven, every MesoAm project deployment will include the following:

  • A squad of 6 to 10 MS17C SDG14 Subject matter experts will complete a comprehensive A to Z evaluation of all 10 SDG14 Challenge and Targets, all 127 Ocean Health Index factors, to determine the “Health Care Plan” for this set of unique SDG14 variables for this community’s solution project deployments.
  • The lead MS17C NGO will present a comprehensive ACTION PLAN a set of Solution deployments for 30X30 achievements in this community
  • MS17C Grant and Policy POD Council of Wisdom and Treasures will collaborate with lead NGO teams, community to seek blended funding, endorsements, writing grants, and blockchain security for all funding
  • Deployments will continue to occur until 2030 and beyond, repeating the cycle of comprehensive A to Z SDG14 evaluations looking for gaps to address, set new milestones, repeat deployment, repeat analysis, to determine the next phase for this location’s ACTION PLAN…this will go on for centuries until sustainable ocean balance has been achieved someday after decades of actions by 1000s of TruBluHearts.

At every opportunity, we will plug our team’s solutions into this infographic from the 1st WTAR workshop

Goal 14: Life Below Water

The world’s oceans – their temperature, chemistry, currents and life – drive global systems that make the Earth habitable for humankind. How we manage this vital resource is essential for humanity as a whole, and to counterbalance the effects of climate change.

Over three billion people depend on marine and coastal biodiversity for their livelihoods. However, today we are seeing 30 percent of the world’s fish stocks overexploited, reaching below the level at which they can produce sustainable yields.

Oceans also absorb about 30 percent of the carbon dioxide produced by humans, and we are seeing a 26 percent rise in ocean acidification since the beginning of the industrial revolution. Marine pollution, an overwhelming majority of which comes from land-based sources, is reaching alarming levels, with an average of 13,000 pieces of plastic litter to be found on every square kilometre of ocean.

The SDGs aim to sustainably manage and protect marine and coastal ecosystems from pollution, as well as address the impacts of ocean acidification. Enhancing conservation and the sustainable use of ocean-based resources through international law will also help mitigate some of the challenges facing our oceans.
